📣 SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: TWO FREE FAMILY EVENTS TOMORROW IN ROCKFORD! A parade on Broadway and a celebration at the Sports Factory are bringing together veterans, families, and Latin American culture. These are two separate events, with organizers working together to help both succeed. 🎉 Veterans Parade: Honoring Service & Fiestas Patrias 2026 Presented by 11th Ward Alderman Salgado, the parade travels along Broadway from Parmele to 4th Street. Expect performers, eye-catching vehicles, candy and merchandise giveaways, and even a chance to meet goats. Yes, goats made the plans too! 🎶 Fiestas Patrias at the Sports Factory Domingos En El Parque, in partnership with the Rockford Park District, brings music, food, and family fun. The Kids Zone includes bounce houses, crafts, and face painting, with a vehicle showcase outside. Enter through the main entrance or the large side door. We also asked the organizers what they want you to understand beyond the activities. What do you hope families feel? They told us inclusion, unity, curiosity, pride, and joy. Even if you don’t know anyone when you arrive, they want you to feel like family. What’s the meaning behind the different flags? Flags from across Latin America will highlight the many countries and cultures within the Latino community. The organizers described these celebrations as a way to honor their Latin American roots while sharing their pride in being American. What would you tell someone who’s never attended before? Everyone is welcome to respectfully enjoy the culture, music, and food. Their hope is that you leave talking about the fun you had and already looking forward to next year. Bring your curiosity and someone you love. There’s room for you in this celebration. ❤️ Remember, it is a good day to go local. #RockfordIL #FiestasPatrias #DomingosEnElParque #RockfordBuzz #GoLocalRockford
