Boomer came in for his annual visit, and he was all tail wags and charm. One of the important vaccines he received was his leptospirosis vaccine and is now considered a core vaccine for dogs. Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial disease spread through wildlife urine in soil and water. It can cause kidney and liver failure in dogs, and because it’s zoonotic, it can also infect people. Keeping dogs vaccinated helps protect the whole family. We’re proud of Boomer for staying healthy, protected, and up‑to‑date on his care.

🦇 Local Rabies Alert — Glencoe, IL A rabid bat was recently found in Glencoe, IL, confirmed positive for rabies. Glencoe is only about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Rockford, making this a very real concern for local pet owners. All dogs and cats — including indoor‑only pets — are legally required in Illinois to stay current on their rabies vaccinations. Indoor pets are still at risk because bats are one of the highest carriers of rabies and can enter homes through small openings, chimneys, attics, or open doors. Keeping your pet vaccinated protects your pet, your family, and the public. Stay safe, stay informed, and keep your pets protected year‑round.

Gus and Honey visited us for their annual heartworm and tick‑borne disease screening — an important part of keeping them healthy. Heartworm disease is spread by mosquitoes, and tick‑borne illnesses can show up even months after a bite. That’s why 12‑month prevention is so important. Gaps in protection leave pets at risk, even during cooler seasons. We love seeing proactive pet parents keeping their companions safe all year long.
